After working in industry and in retail, I trained as a Mental Health Nurse in the eighties and studied for a first degree with the Open University. Within the speciality of Mental Health, my clinical experience was mainly with acutely ill adults. I worked for several years as a Ward Manager and subsequently went on to develop an interest in counselling and obtained my MA at UWCN.
From 2000 I was employed as a Senior Lecturer in Mental Health Nursing at the University of South Wales. I completed my PGCEd at USW and it was during this period that I started a private psychotherapy practice and offered counselling in the evenings and weekends.
Since taking early retirement in 2015 I have developed this service and now offer client appointments throughout the working week. I take private clients, deliver supervision to other counsellors and accept referrals from several counselling agencies.
I still do some occasional lecturing in HE and facilitate workshops in clinical, industrial and educational settings.
I have two grown up children and live with my wife and dog near Cardiff, South Wales.
My interests outside counselling include motorcycling, blues music and Humanism.
